How to Obtain Your eParcel Account Credentials?
This article provides step-by-step instructions for obtaining your Australia Post eParcel account credentials, which you can use to calculate eParcel shipping rates, print labels, and track shipments with ReachShip.
Australia Post, a government-owned corporation, provides postal services in Australia and offers shipping solutions for personal, business, enterprise, and government needs. Through their different services, you can send parcels across Australia and internationally.
Now, to get your Australia Post eParcel credentials, you need to follow the steps below:
- Sign up/Sign in to the Australia Post Developer Centre
- Register for an API key
- Create API Secret
Sign up/Sign in to the Australia Post Developer Centre
Before starting, make sure you have an eParcel contract account.
The Shipping and Tracking API is only available to contract customers, so if you don’t have one yet, fill out the form below requesting an eParcel account and wait for a callback from the Australia Post team.
Once your contract account is created, you can continue.

Next, you’ll need an Australia Post account to log in to the Developer Centre. If you don’t already have one, visit the Australia Post Developer centre and then create an Account.

Upon registering, you get a registration confirmation.

Also, you will get an email confirmation to activate your account.

Register for an API key
Go to the Developer Centre and click on Log in and Register under the “Shipping and Tracking” section, as shown in the screenshot below.

In the next screen, you’ll be prompted for information that will be needed to register for an API key.

Please note, three types of information are requested in this step:
- Australia Post eParcel account number – for registering the API using an eParcel account.
- StarTrack account number – for registering the API using a StarTrack account.
- Same Day service account number – for registering the API using a Same Day service account.
Click on the Complete Registration button to proceed further.
Next, enter details like your name, company name, email address, and phone number. Choose the desired service(s) and enter the respective account number(s).
For eParcel, select the respective option and enter your account number (use only the last seven digits, excluding the three leading zeroes).
Please note that this will generate a general API key for the selected services.

Since you’re using our platform, select “Yes” under Platform Partnership and choose ELEXtensions as the platform.
Click Next to proceed.

Next, select the Australian state where you will handle your billing. Then, click Send.

Note: Once submitted, Australia Post usually takes about 24 hours to process the request. You will then receive an email with your API key. If you don’t get the email, check your spam folder or contact their support team.
Create API Secret
The API Secret works like an API Password. To generate one, you’ll need to create a project in your Australia Post account.
When you log in to your Developer Centre dashboard with a business account, you’ll see an additional menu called Projects.
Note: If you manage multiple stores or organizations, you can create and maintain separate API Secrets by setting up individual projects for each one.
To begin, click on the Projects menu and then select Create new project. A pop-up window will appear, asking you to enter a project name and select your required organization.
Sample settings for this step are shown in the screenshot below.

Once the project is created, go to the Overview tab and click on the Manage Access button, as shown below.

A new section called API Access will appear. Here, click on the Create a key button.

Next, you’ll be asked to provide a nickname for the key and set a secret value. Once you’ve entered these details, click on the Create key button.

Once the secret key is created, you can view/manage it in the Manage existing keys section as shown in the screenshot below.

Finally, you need to enable the services that you’ll be using in your eCommerce store. To do this, click on the “Services” tab and enable the desired services for your store.

Finally, you have your Australia Post eParcel account number (from step 1), API Key (from step 2), and API Password (from step 3).
